4. General Interest Not-For-Credit/Auditing

If you would like to take the course(s) not for credit you have the option to audit the course(s). When a participant decides to audit a HGI course we expect that the individual will fully participate in the class (e.g., completing the required readings, assignments and contributing to classroom discussions and group work).

Haida Gwaii Institute courses aim to be interactive and experiential rather than heavily lecture based. HGI strives to create a safe space to foster connection and build a community of learners, and student participation is an important element for this. Every student is expected to contribute and be prepared to meaningfully discuss content and materials.

Individuals who are considering auditing a course are encouraged to reach out to HGI (hg.institute@ubc.ca) to discuss expectations and requirements.

To register and enrol to audit a HGI course as a Non-resident of Canada:

a) Complete the HGI registration form, making note in the form that you are a Non-Resident registering to audit the course.
b) Pay the non-credit course fee for non-resident of Canada of $1,260 CDN.
