Haida Gwaii Institute courses aim to be interactive and experiential rather than heavily lecture based. HGI strives to create a safe space to foster connection and build a community of learners, and student participation is an important element for this. Every student is expected to contribute and be prepared to meaningfully discuss content and materials.

You can read more about the UBC policy on auditing courses here: https://students.ubc.ca/enrolment/courses/auditing-courses, as Haida Gwaii Institute’s policies align with UBC’s policies. Individuals who are considering auditing a course are encouraged to reach out to HGI (hg.institute@ubc.ca) to discuss expectations and requirements.
